It's been awhile
Ok so at last report way way back in the fall I had a new job. Well, it lasted for 6 whole weeks! I then realized it wasn't the right fit (i.e. I hated it) and I was lucky enough to get an interview for another position which I now much more love!! How lucky can a girl get? I am teaching, and I'm working with an underprivileged population, my two favorite things. I couldn't be happier or feel luckier. I've been in my new position since October and am already looking forward to next fall. So that's what's been happening in a nutshell.

My Roses Grew
Ok so I planted a lot of roses. I had to tend them, got stuck by a few thorns but they finally bloomed! What this really means is that I got a job - not necessarily easy to do in this economy, and I feel pretty blessed. I have to admit it is not the job I dreamed I would get when I started back to college in 2005. My son was only four years old and my nativity was about the same. I really thought I would have no trouble getting a teaching job...I thought after graduation it would be all rainbows and smiley faces. After all, school was the hard part right? Juggling a son, husband, job and writing papers, that should have been the hard part. Well, throw in a struggling economy plus other issues I had no idea of and guess what, no teaching job that first year. Last fall I accepted a position as a paraprofessional working with special education students, not exactly my dream job. Honestly it was a humbling experience, me with a degree, plus a bit more mature than the average new grad. Luckily I worked with amazing teachers and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Hello spring and welcome back to the process of searching for a teaching position. Still hard, maybe even harder, because there are more cuts in education this year. There were easily 300 applicants for every job. I feel lucky that I even got an interview, let alone six interviews. Six, it took six interviews to land a job. It's not the job I thought I'd get, but I think it's a good fit, it's still in teaching and it's a step in the right direction. I will have students and my own classroom. I am a teacher :)

Life Can Stink
Anyone who has lived knows that sometimes life can stink. As a teenager I discovered this when I entered that place known as high school. I am not one of those girls who loved high school. I avoided it as much as possible (as was evident by my grades). As an adult I have learned that when life gets stinky there is normally a bouquet of roses waiting somewhere - sometimes they are delivered and sometimes you have to go out, plant them, water them and then enjoy them after much work. Apparently after the recent stink in my life I am not going to be handed the roses, but rather I must plant them. So watch out world, I have my hands full of shovels to dig up a spot for my roses and you better not be in my way!

Just Wondering
Why is that when I'm trying to clean and get rid of messes, I create bigger messes that I have no desire to clean up? I moved some furniture around and ended up with a bigger mess. Which is still there, while I'm on the computer writing. Sigh!!!
When did people start eating food that only comes out of boxes? What happened to actually cooking food? Washing it, chopping it up and cooking it. I was one of the few people at the store with fresh food in my cart.

Dinner Impossible
So the Rock and I have committed to trying to eat healthier and to save money at the grocery store. The result is that I shopped at That Place From Hell, otherwise knows as WalMart, and I bought few convenience items. So, tonight I am making dinner for tomorrow, since I have to work late and want to provide my family with a healthy meal. I'm making vegetable lasagna, except I'm adding in some leftover homemade meatballs, because we aren't THAT healthy. Well, apparently I didn't look too closely at the recipe, just bought the ingredients. I didn't realize I was making the sauce from SCRATCH!! On a weeknight, after work no less!! It wouldn't have been so bad, except I spent a HALF HOUR trying to open the bottle of dry red wine to make the sauce. It couldn't even be a nice cheap fruity wine I would drink. Now I can add sore arms to my list of injuries, since the rest of me hurts from working out TWICE yesterday. Not to worry, since I worked out twice yesterday, I ate a candy bar and ice cream today. Oh hell. There's always tomorrow. At least dinner is made. I just hope my boys don't notice the whole wheat pasta or bland HOMEMADE sauce :(

The Best Things
The Best Things About Kids:
They don't care what your job is, to them you are just mom
They love your home made spaghetti and meatballs, better than at a restaurant
They let you win when playing soccer
They hug you because it makes them feel better (really it makes me feel better)
Their smiles can erase all your pain
They know when you are sad and know when you need a hug
They need you so much it takes your mind off your woes

You Know You're Tired When....
So you know you're tired when:
you realize you've been cleaning your kitchen counters with the stain remover for the laundry
you fall asleep looking on the Internet
your book hits you in the face while reading in bed
you're sitting up watching tv and drop the remote
yep, did all of them myself
